Senior Admissions Counselor

Get to know Chris!

What year did you start as a student at WKU?

When did you start as a WKU Admissions Counselor?
February 2019

What is your favorite time of year at WKU?

Where are you from?
Born in Fort Myers, FL, but raised in and around Nashville, TN.

What did you study in college?
As an undergraduate student from 2010-2014, I pursued a degree in social studies and history with a concentration in secondary education. The skills that this program provided me have stuck with me to this day and have allowed me to meet so many wonderful people. After graduating, I taught high school for three years in both McCracken Co. and Warren Co. schools. I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education.

Advice for new Hilltoppers?
Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new. Even if you are hesitant to try something because it may not fit in exactly with your current interests, you never know what doors may open up by simply going to an organization's meeting or information session. Get involved and make as many connections as you can throughout your college career. Be willing to work with others whose ideas may differ from your own. You never know what you may learn from listening to the ideas and experiences of others.

What does the WKU experience mean to you?
For me personally, the WKU experience has meant engaging in a diverse community of learners who all strive to achieve goals for the betterment of our society. It means building and growing a support system that guides you and helps you grow personally, professionally, and academically. The lifelong friends and connections that I have made here at WKU have become invaluable pieces of my my overall being.

My favorite WKU tradition and/or memory is:
When I was an undergraduate student, I was a member of the Beta Phi chapter of Phi Sigma Pi here at WKU. From 2011-2013, I was fortunate enough to participate in several service trips to Joplin, Missouri to assist in tornado relief efforts after a devastating EF-5 tornado made its way through the city. I was able to learn the true meaning of service through these opportunities and they helped to inspire me to enter a helping profession. I am currently an alumni advisor for this organization where I am able to carry on the memories and traditions that experienced at WKU during my undergraduate years.

What is your favorite spot on WKU's campus?
My favorite spot on campus is the Downing Student Union. This building serves as a central hub for students and has so many amazing features and services that are provided to students. I frequently visit the Downing Student Union for meetings, studying, and even just to grab a cup of coffee. This has been my "go to" place on campus since I started at WKU.
