WKU Child Care Centers
Early Head Start & Head Start
Project Head Start is a federally funded, comprehensive child development program serving young children and their families. Head Start / Early Head Start accepts children age six (6) weeks to five (5) years and pregnant women whose family income meets Federal poverty guidelines. For the Head Start Program, the child must be three (3) years after October 1 of the school year. However, children turning three (3) after the school cut-off date may enroll should the program have a vacancy. Project Head Start operates half-day sessions Monday through Friday during the WKU academic year. Morning sessions are from 7:30am to 12:30pm. Afternoon sessions are from 12:30pm to 5:30pm. No fee is charged for Head Start or Early Head Start services. Parents are responsible for the child's transportation to and from the center. However, if you need assistance with transportation, please notify the Family Services Coordinator.
